About the radio station Darkness Forever

With my radio station, I give my friends and family the opportunity to make mixtapes and stream them 24/7. There are different styles of music, so there's something for almost everyone. It always follows the guideline: DARKNESS FOREVER. Gothic, post-punk, dark indie, gloomcore, haunting, post-rock, synthwave, etc. Several mixtapes are already in the works. The radio is hosted on Mixcloud. Mixcloud has contracts with the music industry and handles the distribution of royalties to the artists. This allows us DJs to concentrate fully on the music.

With “In Darkness We Dwell 1”, Aeneas embarks on a journey through the depths of darkness, where post-punk, darkwave, and avant-garde soundscapes merge. This show combines classics and insider tips, all of which are carried by a common aura: melancholic, mysterious, and intense.

The opening tracks, Lycia – “Late Night Solitude” and The KVB – ‘Submersion’, lay the foundation for a floating, twilight soundscape that transitions seamlessly into the dreamy gravity of Deine Lakaien – “Cradle Song”. It soon becomes clear that this is a collection that not only plays, but weaves moods.

Among the first highlights is the haunting “Love Out Me” by Siouxsie and the Banshees, followed by the darkly luminous Sisters of Mercy – ‘Lights’ and the synthetic pulse of Propaganda – “p:Machinery”. With ACTORS – “One Hundred Years” and Harsh Symmetry – ‘Severance’, modern trends meet the classics, while Occults – “Black Celebration” sheds new light on the reference to Depeche Mode.

A particularly intense section is created by the Bauhaus double feature (“The Man with X-Ray Eyes” and ‘Nerves’) and the pastoral shadows of And Also The Trees – “This Path Through The Meadow”. Equally atmospheric are the contributions by Anja Huwe (“Skuggornas” & “Zwischenwelt”), which reveal new facets of feminine darkness.

Another highlight: Diamanda Galás with her version of “Gloomy Sunday” and the heartbreaking “La Llorona” (Live) – radical intensity that gets under your skin. Complemented by the fragile beauty of This Mortal Coil (“Song To The Siren” & ‘Kangaroo’) and Nico – “My Funny Valentine”, a dazzling but always dark panorama unfolds.

The dramaturgy reaches its climax in the late songs: Lebanon Hanover – “Abracadabra” and Rosetta Stone – “Under The Weather” build bridges between darkwave and goth rock, before the timeless Echo & the Bunnymen – “The Killing Moon” sets a finale that hovers over everything like a night sky.

“In Darkness We Dwell 1” is more than a playlist – it is a curated ritual that digs deep into the soul. A collection for nights when we want to lose ourselves in the darkness.
