About the radio station Darkness Forever

With my radio station, I give my friends and family the opportunity to make mixtapes and stream them 24/7. There are different styles of music, so there's something for almost everyone. It always follows the guideline: DARKNESS FOREVER. Gothic, post-punk, dark indie, gloomcore, haunting, post-rock, synthwave, etc. Several mixtapes are already in the works. The radio is hosted on Mixcloud. Mixcloud has contracts with the music industry and handles the distribution of royalties to the artists. This allows us DJs to concentrate fully on the music.

The second edition of Goth Disco Inferno, curated by bauhausmensch, looks back to the 60s and 70s—a time when the foundations were laid for the dark aesthetics and sound of what would later become goth. Between Krautrock, proto-punk, glam rock, and the first electronic experiments, soundscapes emerged that continue to resonate today.

From the hypnotic spheres of NEU! to the cold minimalism of Suicide, the cool elegance of Roxy Music, and the avant-garde soundscapes of Brian Eno, a panorama unfolds that makes the seeds of gothic culture audible.

The dark romanticism of The Velvet Underground, the iconic energy of Siouxsie and the Banshees, the haunting heaviness of Joy Division, and the charismatic escapism of David Bowie also mark defining moments of this journey. In between, classics such as Bauhaus' “Bela Lugosi's Dead,” The Cure in their early days, and the rebellious urgency of Iggy Pop shine through.

A program that celebrates the origins of darkness and at the same time shows how diverse and experimental the music was that would later become the DNA of goth.
